WIN THE BATTLE FOR YOUR BODY

Posted by & filed under Uncategorized.

Winning the weight-loss battle isn’t easy, but it isn’t impossible, either. And sometimes all it takes is a little motivation to get yourself ready to kick your fitness routine into a high gear.

Let’s face it: it’s not all that difficult to start a fitness routine. After all, most of us have done it more than once.

The trouble, of course, comes with sticking with it. All too often, our initial enthusiasm and energy wanes, we get distracted by other things going on in our lives, or we don’t think we’re seeing results quickly enough — and we throw in the towel.

Yet many people do manage to hang in there, and would no sooner skip their regular workout than their morning shower. What’s their secret?

A recent study shed some light on the subject. Long-term exercisers (who had been working out for an average of 13 years) were asked to rank what motivated them to keep up with their regimes.

Their answers might surprise you. The exercisers were not as concerned with powerful pecs and awesome abs as they were with feeling good and being healthy.

The take home message is that you have to find out a way to do your exercise regularly and make it become a central part of your daily life. Doing exercise in a group or with friends can be very social and thriving.  It is also important to have facilities at home like gymnastic mat or an indoor cycling bike.

By altering gut flora, antibiotics could promote obesity and damage our immune systems

THE trillions of bacteria that colonise our gut are in jeopardy. Overusing antibiotics has not only led to the development of dagerous superbugs, but has also changed the bacteria that live inside us. Now evidence suggests that new gut floras may be responsible for our expanding waistlines.
Antibiotic use has been rising for the past 70 years. Scientists fears that overprescribing antibiotics could be harming some cmmunities of “good” bacteria that line your intestines.

  • The effects could be longstanding, too. For exempel, some antibiotics seem to permanently oust Helicobacter pylori form their home in our stomachs. That might seem like good news since the bug has been linked to stomach cancers and gastric ulcers. However these positive outcomes coincide with a surge in cancers of oesophagus, attributed to the more acidic environment H. pylori leaves behind when it vacates the stomach.
  • To investigate whether overusing antibiotics could also play part in the rise of obesity, scientists fed infant mice low doses of penicillin to mimic doses given to farm animals. After 30 weeks, penicillin-fed mice were between 10 and 15 per cent bigger and twice as fat as drug-free mice. When they looked at the mice’s gut bacteria they found that low doses of antibiotics had seemingly shifted the balance of certain gut microbes. They conclude that there seem to be a risk for obesity using antibiotics and even more if you get antibiotics from birth. They have also found that use of antibiotics may have detrimental effect on childrens immune systems.

It is important to be aware that the experiments are done in mice and it is impossible yet for sure to say the same will happen in human beings.

The message is that microbes are not accidental – we have co-evolved with them. They are useful, but they are changing as a result of lifestyle, and this is changing our disease risk. The answer isn’t to stop giving antibiotics. Research is fundamental. We need to narrowly treat infections and in the same time better diagnostics and better therapeutics.

Fat and Muscle are at war. Make sure the good guy comes out at top

Posted by & filed under Uncategorized.

The battle goes on whether you’re awake or asleep, on the couch or on the treadmill. On the one side, the good guy: Muscle. On the other side, the bad guy: Fat.

Muscle: Muscle burns fat for energy, which is why building and maintaining muscle is the key to losing flab and sculpting a lean, toned body. There is lot of scientific evidence that muscle protect you from heart disease, back pain, arthritis and depression.  Muscle boots metabolism, helping you burn calories day and night.

Metabolism: Simply put, it’s all the various  chemical reactions that happen inside your body 24-7 to keep you alive. You can think about your metabolism as your caloric bouncer, ready to throw Fat out of Club You.

Weight loss: So why is it so difficult and hard to lose weight just by exercising. Going to gym we all see many overweight people in spite of that they are exercising several times a week. Why? The cause is that only 15 to 30 percent of your fat burn is induced by exercise and movement. Up to 85 percent of your calorie burn in a given day has nothing to do with moving your body. I don’t say that this mean you should skip gym – you just need to know how to make exercise work for you. The fact is, exercise is crucial and important in preparing muscle to conquer its greatest threat – Fat, of course. Avery effective way to burn fat is to use a indoor cykling bike.

KNIFES

Meat is animal that is eaten as food. Most often, this means the skeletal and associated fat and other tissues, but it may also describe other edible tissues such as organs and offal. In commerce, meat is generally used by the meat packing industry in a more restrictive sense—the flesh of mammalian species (pigs, cattle, lambs, etc.) raised and prepared for human consumption, to the exclusion of fish, poultry , and other animals. Usage varies worldwide by culture, and some countries such as India have large populations that avoid the consumption of all or most kinds of meat. Game or bush meat is also generally distinguished from that produced by agriculture.

To prepare meat you need a knife. While much of this work can be accomplished with a few general-purpose knives – notably a large Chefs Knife, a tough cleaver, and a small paring knife – there are also many specialized knives that are designed for specific tasks. Kitchen knives can be made from several different materials.
